HMSG Interview Tananarive Due!

We here at HMSG are so lucky and honored to interview Writer, Educator, and Producer TANANARIVE DUE! Due is an award-winning author who teaches Black Horror and Afrofuturism at UCLA. She was one of the executive producers for one of our favorite documentaries HORROR NOIRE: A history of Black Horror for Shudder.

If you haven't watch Horror Noire yet - please do! And if you have and are ready to learn more about the History of Black Horror be sure to check out Due's class that she and her husband & collaborator Steven Barns have made available online at SunkenPlaceClass.com. Wonderful guests like Jordan Peele pop in to share their insights on the genre.

It was a delight to hear her insights on horror and it's social impact as we took a deep dive discussion into the new CANDYMAN (2021), directed by Nia DiCosta. We discuss the relevance of the work and how we can interact with the original with a new framework and context.
